Echo RM-520ES 50.2cc Petrol Backpack Brushcutter
The RM-520ES takes the same 50.2cc engine as the SRM-520ES/U and repackages it in a backpack configuration — and that change makes a significant practical difference for certain types of work. With the engine unit carried on the back rather than supported by a harness from the front, the weight is distributed across the whole body rather than concentrated at the shoulders and arms. On steep banks, rough terrain, and awkward slopes where a conventional brushcutter becomes tiring and difficult to control, the backpack design gives the operator a genuine advantage in stability and endurance.
At 11.9kg it's heavier than the handheld version, but the weight is far less noticeable when it's properly distributed across a padded backpack harness. The 1,070ml fuel tank is significantly larger than the standard SRM-520ES/U, meaning fewer stops to refuel on extended jobs. The split boom design allows the machine to be broken down for transport and storage, and throttle trigger protection reduces the risk of accidental activation.
The high-tensile steel driveshaft, heavy-duty air filter, and ES-Start carry over from the handheld version. Part of Echo's X Series best-in-class range.
